THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF KIDNEY PATIENTS IS ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR THE 2010 AAKP MEDAL OF EXCELLENCE AWARD




Tampa, Fla. – The American Association of Kidney Patients (AAKP) is seeking nominations for the 2010 AAKP Medal of Excellence Award . The award is the Association’s most prestigious award for a renal physician. It recognizes and honors a nephrologist who has made a significant contribution to the advancement and evolvement of direct patient care as well as enhanced the quality of life for the nation’s kidney patients and their families. The award recipient is honored at the AAKP Medal of Excellence Award Dinner held Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel in Baltimore, Md., in conjunction with the Renal Physicians Association’s Annual Meeting .

“There is a large number of renal physicians in the United States doing great work on behalf of kidney patients”, stated AAKP President Roberta Wager, RN, MSN. “We want to recognize these individuals and thank them for their tireless efforts in making the physical, emotional and social impact of living with kidney disease a little easier.”

Award nominees must show he/she has participated in the development of educational programs designed to enhance the patient/family understanding of renal disease. Nominees must demonstrate how their current or past research/activities have made a significant change to the way patient care is administered, and participation in educational programs including, but not limited to local and national teleconferences, seminars and conventions.
